Unforgettable Weddings at 800 Congress in Austin, Texas
Finding the one you can’t live without is one of life’s sweetest moments. Marrying that person calls for an extraordinary celebration. Wedding celebrations look different for every couple. For some, a magical experience means a mountainside elopement. For others, it might be a hometown gathering. But for Ana and Andrew, it meant throwing an unforgettable party in their favorite city with those they love most. To describe this 800 Congress wedding as epic is an understatement.
When I asked the bride what they wanted their wedding photography to reflect on their wedding day, she answered,
“I want the photos to demonstrate the love and laughter we share as a couple as well as family. This is basically a giant party and I want all to have a wonderful time.”
Done and done! I had a blast capturing their big day for them. Not to mention, photographing the authentic love and laughter she described wasn’t hard – there was an endless supply of both hilarious candid moments and touching exchanges that had me reaching for tissues. This close family wears love on their sleeves, and their support and joy for the newlyweds came out in every part of the day. It’s safe to say there was never a dull moment. They kept me on my toes with plenty of priceless interactions that could not go undocumented.
800 Congress Wedding Design
As for the theme and décor, the pops of velvety red and cool cobalt were striking! They did a fantastic job of incorporating their own personal style into a traditional wedding at the 800 Congress venue. Many of the bride’s family members flew in all the way from South America, so they infused an international vibe and a few cultural aspects representing the joining of their families.
If this were in a bridal magazine, this Pearl Events wedding would be sure to catch your eye. The bride wore a gorgeous white gown with dark lace and red high heels – the ensemble looked like it was made just for her! And her hubbies complementary dark blue suit completed the look.
The floral arrangements included lots of dark greenery, ferns, and unique non-floral options – check out their ceremony backdrop! I’ve never seen anything like it. The feathery effect really softened the look while adding some texture and color, while the soft hanging lights illuminated that heart melting first kiss!
Colorful Couples Portraits in Austin, Texas
Afterward, we strolled the city streets of downtown Austin while they relished in the moment, took some time for each other, and gave me a chance to take a few more couples portraits. Austin has some really cool buildings, structures, and urban backdrops that I like to use to bring some diversity to the collection (while keeping with their cohesive style).
Then, it was time to get their dancing shoes on and sing, dance, and laugh the night away. I’m in love with their lively reception photographs, and the venue had some great lighting to capture it all.
About 800 Congress Wedding Venue
800 Congress is a premier wedding venue in Austin, Texas. Most love it because of its blank canvas layout perfect for designing the wedding of your dreams. At the same time, it’s not so blank that it lacks character. The venue showcases a modern industrial look, and the wood, brick, and stone accents add a touch of welcoming warmth. A wall of large floor-to-ceiling windows lets in the perfect amount of natural light while providing views of the city from street level. The polished warehouse can showcase a variety of wedding styles and themes. Just outside, large, mature trees help shade the street-level terrace, ideal for an al fresco cocktail hour – a rare find in the middle of the city.
In addition, couples are able to completely customize their wedding at 800 Congress wedding venue. The venue rental includes a 10-hour block chosen by the couple. Their experienced onsite venue manager will help ensure everything is flawless from start to finish. They provide a catering kitchen, 4 movable bars, all of your AV needs, and many sizing options for tables and arrangements. They even have their own bar service! All you need are the chairs, linens, and dinnerware.
One of the things I love most about 800 Congress weddings is the flexibility (something we all need right now during uncertain pandemic circumstances). This venue can host up to 600 people, yet it can also easily be arranged into a more intimate setting for a smaller guest count. The capacity varies based on the layout to fit your needs. As you can see, the venue very comfortably hosts a medium-sized wedding.
800 Congress is a lovely historic downtown Austin wedding venue and one of my favorites to photograph. For more wedding inspiration and venue tips, be sure to follow along with the blog.
