5 Reasons Why You Need a “Life Photographer”
Finding a photographer you love and trust is invaluable. After all, good photography requires some vulnerability. You have to be willing to open up and share some of the best, and most intimate, parts of your life in order to get beautifully authentic milestone photos. Wouldn’t it be great to have one photographer who feels like family to capture all of life’s greatest milestones – and the sweet moments in between?

What is a “Life Photographer”
As a mother myself, I saw a need for “lifetime” photographers. So many specialize in single life events – there are wedding and newborn photographers galore – but not many who can expertly photograph all of life’s moments. A life photographer is just like it sounds. You need someone you can count on through it all to document precious memories year after year, and I’m here for it.
I’ve photographed everything from romantic first looks to safe newborn poses. My specialty? Authenticity and human connection. I photograph what you cherish most – family, in all of its forms and stages. I want to be your family photographer for a lifetime.

I’m not going to lie, there are some perks for me, too. I absolutely love staying in touch with couples and watching them grow over the years. They aren’t just clients to me; they’re my friends. I strive to give you the kind of photos that I want for my own family. It’s truly a joy to watch your life story unfold and an honor to be entrusted with documenting it.
Bull Creek Park Maternity Session & In-Home Newborn Session
After doing their engagement session and their festive Cinco De Mayo wedding, I was ecstatic when this lovely couple asked me to do both their maternity and newborn sessions. First, we caught the gorgeous sunrise at Bull Creek Park in Austin, Texas for their maternity session. It was great to give them a chance to spend some quality time together before the little one made his grand debut. Then, since the pandemic was still in full swing and we needed to be extra cautious, I travelled down to Houston to do their newborn session inside the safety of their own home. Both sessions completely melted my heart. I’m so happy for this new family of three. I have a feeling parenthood will be their best adventure yet!

Benefits of Hiring a Life Photographer
-
Consistency
Your engagement and wedding are just the first chapter of your story together. The wild ride ahead is sure to hold some pretty incredible moments that deserve framing. Wherever life takes you, I want you to have quality images to preserve those memories.
A consistent style will help you show off your story beautifully. Every photographer has his or her own unique style and “eye.” Creative tastes vary quite a bit. For instance, some go heavy on the portraiture, while others opt for a lifestyle look. Some incorporate warm, rich hues, while others prefer light and airy. The best way to achieve consistency for your wall art and albums is to keep the same photographer. Then, you will have a seamless look as your story unfolds from one milestone to the next.

Reliability
This is a big one these days. Is it just me, or has our culture taken such a hard turn toward convenience and self-promotion that quality and dependability are nowhere to be found? For life’s biggest moments, you need someone you can trust to be there who will deliver not just quality photos but quality experiences again and again. I promise to show up for you not only as your photographer but as a trusted friend. These are huge moments for your family! They deserve the best. For this family’s newborn session, they couldn’t come to me, so I went to them — and enjoyed every minute of it. (Just look at that precious sleepy smile!)

Comfort & Trust
As with anything, once you find a good one, why change it? If you do engagement photos, bridal or couple’s portraits, and wedding photos with one person, chances are you’ve gotten to know that photographer pretty well. Since you’ve found a groove and perfected the style, it’s natural to want to stay with someone you feel comfortable with – especially when a tiny new family member is involved.
I’ve done countless weddings throughout my career, and I’m always happy when couples reach out to me for anniversary, maternity, or newborn sessions later on. It’s always so great to see them again and catch up since their wedding. More often than not, we pick right back up where we left off with very little warm-up needed. No camera shyness here – just great photos!

Easy Planning
I know how busy life gets with kids. Between balancing your own careers, finding ways to spend quality family time, and juggling kids’ school and activities, it can be hard to find the time and energy for anything else. I want to make it as easy a s possible for you to stay up to date on your family photos for every milestone–and even the sweet days in between. With the same photographer, you already know the process. Communication is easy. Simply reach out to book the session, and the rest just falls into place. No lengthy research, complicated forms, or get-to-know-you meetings and interviews necessary.

Heirloom Images
I don’t know if Facebook and Instagram will be around 30 years from now, but if even if they are, what’s the likelihood that you will go back through all of the random iPhone photos and print them off for future generations to have? Instead of a hodgepodge collection of photos, I’d love to help you curate beautiful heirloom albums that you’ll be proud to pass down one day. Digital images are great, but they just can’t beat sitting down with loved ones to flip through real photographs together.
