Best Austin Micro-Wedding Venues
Planning a Small, Intimate Wedding During Coronavirus
Why highlight the best Austin micro-wedding venues? Many planners and event forecasters know weddings will continue in one way or another during this crazy COVID-19 pandemic. (You can’t hold love down!) However, many couples are opting to downsize to much smaller guest lists.
By going with smaller, more intimate weddings, couples do their part in protecting some of their more vulnerable friends and family with health risks. With fewer people involved, guests have more room to spread out and decrease the risk of spreading illness. Although they would love to celebrate in-person with their long-distance friends, they completely understand that it may be best to celebrate in spirit for now. Live streaming and videography is a great solution for long-distance guests! Or, plan a separate celebration with them at a later date once all this has passed.
I had a destination wedding with only 50 people myself, so I know first hand how incredibly fun and intimate is small wedding is!

Micro weddings offer more pros than just keeping people healthy. They also open up your venue and customization options. With a smaller guest count to consider, you have a wider variety to choose from. Plus, you’ll have some distinctly unique venues that only cater to small gatherings.
In addition, micro weddings lend themselves to a more romantic, intimate feel. With those you love in close proximity, their love and support literally surround you during the vow exchange. It’s such a sweet experience. And, you may feel less shy to exchange personalized vows, slow things down, savor the moment, and do things your own way. For those weighing their options, a small wedding or “elopement” of sorts can be extra special.
Of course, it’s completely understandable that some couples feel a little cheated by coronavirus – this was your wedding year, and you’ve already spent so much time planning. However, to reassure you, wedding planners, coordinators, and vendors are digging deep in their creativity and connecting with the best available resources to deliver the wedding of your dreams despite the coronavirus! Even though it may look a little different than originally planned, your customized micro-wedding has the potential to be even better!
To begin your micro wedding planning, the first step is to find a dreamy venue. Here are a few options specifically in Austin that I have fallen in love with over the years as a professional wedding photographer, and I’m sure you will, too. If you have any questions about them, I would be happy to provide additional insight. Simply connect with me via my Contact Page!
My Top 8 Unique Micro-Wedding Venues Near Austin
This private home property showcases a beautiful giant greenhouse – a hidden gem in the heart of the Texas hill country. For those who love beautiful scenery, this is it! The Greenhouse at Driftwood is tucked away on 50 acres, yet still only 30 minutes from Austin. Their spaces include a Tropical Greenhouse, Desert Greenhouse, Deck, Wedding Oak Lawn, a tent slap, and open areas for rain plans and outdoor lawn games. Needless to say, there’s plenty of space to spread out and design the perfect micro wedding.
This gorgeous boutique hotel can host up to 40 guests (or of course as few as 2 if you want to elope). One of their suites even boasts a private courtyard, so this is definitely not your average hotel experience. Wake up and swim in a pool with glowing SOUL neon! Their delicious food and room service in the morning will make for an extra luxurious and relaxing wedding weekend – the perfect quiet spot to celebrate your marriage and spend quality time together. It’s almost like a mini-honeymoon after your mini-wedding!
3. Justine’s Secret House
This fun and funky little place is veiled in mystery. If you’ve ever tasted the delicious bites at Justine’s on Austin East Side, then you may already be familiar with the owners of this intimate venue. I would provide the link, but they’ve done such a good job at keeping it secretive that you need a password to get in (for those of you who like a speakeasy vibe). But for now, you can either email her at firstname.lastname@example.org or read reviews and see a few photos on Kapow. Imagine a verdant New Orleans-style garden hiding an intriguingly secretive Victorian home – right in the middle of central East Austin!

This lovely place shares a kitchen with yummy upscale Mexican restaurant La Condesa. This second story venue features modern vibes, colorful art, ceiling planters, outdoor/indoor options, and a killer patio perfect for a sunset ceremony overlooking downtown Austin.
This gorgeous venue will open Summer 2020. You could be one of the first couples to experience the newest exclusive venue offered by Auberge properties! They flawlessly combine modern luxury with their rich historic past. What a truly timeless location!

Laguna Gloria is one out of The Contemporary’s two incredible locations. Laguna Gloria is so remarkable, in fact, it has received multiple nation awards and accolades, and you’ll find it in publications like com, The Knot, and Style Me Pretty! The al fresco ceremony area is lined with mature trees and dappled sunlight, and the venue is an art museum as a fun bonus. Long green trails and an amphitheater on water are just a few of it’s fun features.
This one is perfect for the foodie. I can attest that their non-traditional Japanese food prepared by Chef Tyson Cole is out of this world! The modern back room with red tile was especially designed for special occasions and events – you know, like a micro wedding. They offer a private room in back of restaurant for up to 34 dining. Order a special event menu or allow guests to choose.
This is one of my absolute favorite places to photograph. The grounds offer multiple locations for stunning photos, and the mansion itself is breathtaking. You can rent the entire outdoor lawn or private rooms for smaller weddings and events. I highly recommend this one, and have worked with their experienced staff many times!
