Mueller Lake Park Family & Engagement Photos | Cory Ryan Photography
One thing I love about photography is that I can go to the same location again and again, and the photographs turn out so different each time. Depending on the time of day, time of year, and the “feel” you want from the photos, there is so much variety that can be added with a big of creativity. I never run out of ideas on how to make the same location look different and unique for each special client.
Mueller Lake Park is one of my all time favorite locations in Austin to take my clients when they want a natural backdrop to their images. So, I thought it would be fun to show how one location can be used in multiple ways. We took these two sessions one month apart, which happened to be when Austin was turning from summer to fall. I focused on using the sunset over the long grass with access to the beautiful lake in the middle for both of these Mueller Lake Park family & engagement photos.
Family & Engagement Sessions at Mueller Lake Park
For the engagement session, she chose to wear a stunning floral dress that was perfect for the summer season. I love the red floral pattern; it pops so well off the soft greens of the natural landscape. He chose to wear a simple palette of khakis and a light blue button up, which let her dress pop even more. I was able to capture some beautiful pictures of the happy couple walking along trails by the lake with the sunlight shining through the trees behind them. We also were able to get some sweet pictures of the couple sitting in the tall grass after a quick wardrobe change.
For the family portraits, Austin had already turned to fall. They all chose hues of blue that were soft next to the changing colors of the leaves. I love the pictures of the family walking hand in hand along the trails here. The green of the foliage had already faded to more of a golden wheat color that played so nicely off the blue wardrobes. While I was able to get pictures of the family in the tall grass as well, the sunlight pierced through the trees more strikingly creating beautiful light in the background.
These two sessions created different looks, but what didn’t change was the constancy of brand and style. While I can switch up a lot, these are the things that must stay the same because it is what makes my photography, well, mine. To see more family sessions on the blog, click [here].
