The Driskill Hotel is indisputably classic Austin wedding venue. Megan and William’s rehearsal dinner in the Maximilian Room was the perfect way to introduce out-of-towners to this downtown Austin institution. At the Driskill you can always expect impeccable service and yummy food, and this night was no exception. Guests mingled and caught up in the open mezzanine foyer. Dinner was re-created from the couple’s first date dinner – such a cute idea, right?! Guests munched on delectable passed appetizers like red and yellow tomatoes with goat cheese fondue, Bibb lettuce salad, surf and turf, and crème_brûlée for dessert! It was a perfect primer for the amazing wedding the following day.
This wedding marked the joining of a couple living in two countries – the bride was from Columbia and the groom lived in Washington DC! So they met in the middle for a yacht wedding on the water at Horseshoe Bay Resort. Because Marce didn’t live here, we added some extra time to her wedding day to do a bridal session before the wedding. She immediately bowled me over with her sass and enthusiasm – and when I saw the red sash go on over her dress, I knew this was a girl with super style! The dress was so flattering to begin with, but Marce really knew how to work it! Sometimes I feel so lucky to meet such amazing people in this line of work – and this family in particular welcomed me with open arms.
After the ceremony at Million Dollar Hole at Slick Rock, we headed to the marina where we all boarded the yacht! The sun set while we were on the water, the guests were treated to a decadent meal on the bottom floor, and the creative flowers by David Kurio wowed us all. The little touches – like boutineers & bouquets laden with tiny chili peppers – were a real hit and scored high on the originality charts! They followed dinner with cakes and dancing on the top floor. And as the night wrapped up, the groom’s parents surprised the couple with a gorgeous fireworks display on the water!

I couldn’t have been any more excited once Rayen & Geoff’s wedding day finally rolled around. Rayen is naturally absolutely gorgeous, so I couldn’t wait to see what she would look like in her wedding dress. Geoff is both hilaroius and a perfect gentleman at the same time, and stood absolutely beaming at his first glimpse of Rayen walking down the aisle. The ceremony & reception both took place at the Clubs of Cordillera Ranch, which Geoff’s father was a member of.
Shades of pink, gold & cream decorated their bouquets and stunning decor. I love when a reception has such amazing lighting – it really lends a lot of drama to the photos! The couple was smart enough to schedule their ceremony right before sunset, so we were able to capture some amazing shots with the sun going down in rainbows of amazing colors. Half way through the ceremony, Rayen even changed into a shorter party dress so she could get busy on the dance floor. And I’ve never been toasted before in front of an entire wedding by a wedding couple – what an honor and a surprise – and thank you so much Geoff! The couple also hosted a Mexican themed photo booth, complete with sombreros & maracas (and the many tequila shots I witnessed)! :)

Last spring I shot Jeanette’s sister’s wedding on a gorgeous Tennessee mountaintop, and this spring brought Jeanette’s turn to tie the knot! She and her fiance Chad decided to stick closer to their home and tie the knot in Oklhaoma City! I was excited about my first visit and was happy to head north and leave a rainy Austin behind! But alas, it was raining in Oklahoma when we arrived for the rehearsal dinner as well. With tents being set-up, and a bride determined to not be stressed out, we proceeded with optimism & determination. Like the old saying, we were doing our best to make lemonade! What, we have to do formals in the rain? Well grab some prop umbrellas and let’s get funky then! I was lucky enough to have the fabulous Meegan Weaver from Wichita Falls, TX drive up to assist, and she was truly unbeleivable! And she also took one of my favorite images of the tuxedo-clad chihuahua being walked through the rain… :)
