Cody & Brandon met at an outdoor summer music series beloved by all Austinites called Blues on the Green. And as they say… the rest is history. The couple’s Austin same sex wedding at modern wedding venue Prospect House was total spring wedding perfection! Event planning by Platinum Wedding and Events made the day run smoothly and beautifully. The grooms helped each other get dressed, topping of their suits with colorful handkerchiefs, matching rainbow socks and succulent boutonnieres. As guests arrived by shuttle, they were greeted by a delicious Antonelli’s Cheese Shop platter… yum!
On the most beautiful spring day, each groom was walked down the aisle by both of their parents. The modern white frame with hill country views served as the simple ceremony backdrop. When the guys first met, they also bonded over the fact they both loved the Sofia Coppola Blanc de Blancs Mini champagne cans. So obviously, that had to be featured for guests at the reception!
As music lovers, the couple made sure to pick a super fun band for the reception, The Nightowls. Cody & Brandon danced to the classily romantic “At Last” by Etta James for their first dance. The band kept the dance floor packed all night, with the exception of a quick mini-donut exchange courtesy of the adorable hot pink Little Lucy’s mini-donuts trailer. The last dance “Shout” played by the band had everyone in a dance party frenzy. What an incredible wedding! Huge congratulations Cody & Brandon!

This is more for my wedding photography colleagues than my couples, but feel free to listen in for a taste of what it’s like to run a wedding photography business! I’m proud to say that I am going on 13 years now, so tune in to listen to TWO Austin wedding photographer podcast interviews with Cory Ryan and get to know me a little better!
1) On this episode of Small Town Camera Podcast, listen in on iTunes for our conversation about “How to Have Longevity and Grow Your Camera Business”. I have A LOT to say, apparently, because this is a long one chocked full of great information for wedding photographers who are looking to make their business stand the test of time. (1 hr 30 min)
Hallye and Bayne’s spring Canyonwood Ridge wedding was planned and coordinated by Pearl Events. The couple’s wedding day was truly a stunning in every way! The bride wore her mom’s vintage Bianchi gown, which was updated by Coutures By Laura, while preserving the beautiful lace, beading, and tons of seed pearls. I can’t imagine a sweeter sentiment for a bride and her daughter! With fear of rain and windy conditions, the ceremony was moved inside. The light inside the chapel area was soft and dreamy for the couple’s romantic ceremony. Bayne wasn’t able to hold back his tears when he saw the gorgeous Hallye escorted down the aisle. Hallye’s giant smile lit up every room she entered, and you can tell from all the photos that she literally enjoyed every minute of her wedding day! The entire bridal party was looking dapper, and I particularly loved the unique lavender and white striped bridesmaid dresses, as well as the groom’s white tuxedo jacket. The colorful flowers by Bouquets of Austin brought fun and whimsy to the ceremony backdrop and table tops. Some centerpieces even reflected the butterfly theme seen throughout the decor that day, in memory of Hallye’s father. It was extremely windy when we went outside for photos, but we used it to our advantage to showcase Hallye’s gorgeous veil! After a delicious comfort food dinner by Royal Fig, The Pictures Band pumped up the jams and the dance floor went crazy! Guests swung glow sticks around, and the whole wedding party even got on stage to dance as the bride’s sister sang along with the band for one song. The confetti drop wowed everyone and was a fun surprise! As a finale to the reception, the couple exited to a sea of sparklers into their getaway car. Huge congratulations Hallye & Bayne!

Julie & Dan came to their engagement session full of ideas and creative energy – a total photographer’s dream! We began the couple’s Austin boardwalk engagement photos with their sweet puppy & a bundle of balloons in tow, and hit several locations around south Austin. Finally, until we ended up at the new Town Lake (or Lady Bird Lake as they now call it) boardwalk. In addition to being a welcome addition for Austinites looking to exercise, it’s also a fantastic spot for taking photos with the Austin city skyline. I seriously can’t wait for their 2016 wedding… I already know it will be awesome!!!
