McKinney Roughs Nature Park Wedding :: Katie & Taylor

Katie & Taylor are truly one of the sweetest couples you’ll ever meet! We had a blast shooting their Austin engagement photos at AMOA Laguna Gloria over the summer, so I’ve literally had months to look forward to their big day at McKinney Roughs Nature Park in Cedar Creek, TX. With the help of Ren at 36th Street Events, the couple threw the fun and casual celebration they had dreamed of! Katie said she hoped that the atmosphere feels “intimate, homey, and warm”, which lent itself perfectly to this outdoor amphitheater on a perfect fall day! I was LOVING the short asymmetrical hemline dress that Katie snagged at Unbridaled, which she paired perfectly with blue suede Chie Mihara heels! And when do I EVER get to take photos with a TEEPEE? Yes, a TEEPEE !!! The bride’s aunt conducted the ceremony, and the couple was serenaded with acoustic guitars by family members at the reception as well. I always love those sweet touches by family members. After a delicious dinner by Primizie, the couple headed outside to dance al fresco under the stars, and then exited to a wall of bubbles for the perfect ending to the perfect night! Congratulations Katie & Taylor!

Pecan Grove Wedding in Driftwood, TX :: Meredith & Reid get MerReid!

Meredith & Reid live in New York City, but have ties to Austin, Texas! So it was a perfect fall escape to have their destination wedding at the Salt Lick’s Pecan Grove in Driftwood, Texas. The tall pecan trees lined the shady grove, and guests were greeted with a giant artistic chalkboard wedding program as they approached the ceremony. The opposite side of the board served as the backdrop for the photo booth with their names scrolled across the top. SO CUTE! Meredith & Reid were so clearly in love, and they both absolutely lit up when they got to see each other for the first time at their first look. The ceremony took place at sunset, with beautiful golden light streaming through the trees. A few surprises were in store for their guests – first, an amazing choreographed first dance (word on the street was that Reid was quite the dancer – TRUE!), followed by fruit cobbler a la modes in lieu of wedding cake. As any Texan knows, the Salt Lick BBQ has the BEST desserts! Then the tables got turned and the wedding band, London Calling, surprised the bride and groom instead. The bride sang Pat Benetar’s “Heart Breaker” with a live band!!! After Meredith was called to the stage, she was surprised when they were all pointing for her to take the microphone! After momentarily being taken off guard, she turned around and nailed it so fearlessly with all of her girlfriends cheering her on. The groom was in the front row looking like his heart might explode. It was a moment no one at that wedding, including the photographers, will ever forget!!! Reid and the boys took the stage next, and an awesome dance party wrapped up the perfect night! And let me not forget the most awesome spin on the traditional wedding koozie – it read “Eat, Drink and Be Merreid”! (Get it??? No, I was not witty enough to come up with that on my own.) Take care of yourselves in NYC and big congratulations from Austin!

Mercury Hall Wedding in Austin, TX :: Jessica & Taylor

This incredibly stylish and creative wedding at the oh-so-charming Mercury Hall was all the mastermind of the bride Jessica! In fact, most of the DIY decor and details were handmade by her – so impressive! The candy themed details made the whole day extra sweet – from the milk crates with labelled lollipops to the full candy bar for guest favors – everything was so original and based on FUN. Jessica kept it modern with a dash of vintage pin-up, complete with fabulous make-up by Maris Malone Calderon, and stylish feather fascinator and totally blinging Kate Spade jewelry. The groom’s wedding day present was an equally stylish pair of cuff links made from broken stop lights. And you gotta love a couple with an awesome sense of humor – they provided both wedding mad libs for the guests to fill out for them, as well as a wedding program titled “So You Are Going To Sit Through Jessica and Taylor’s Wedding: A Practical Guide to Not Falling Asleep and Figuring Out Just What Exactly Is Going On”. Though the adorable flowergirl couldn’t help herself from yawning anyway – ha! But let’s not forget what is most important, which is how truly and madly in love these two are! It was clear all day how close these two are, and how much fun they have when they are together, and with those they love (see dance party photos below for proof)! Big congratulations Jessica & Taylor!

Mary & Sean :: Green Pastures Wedding in Austin, TX

This was an Austin destination wedding for Mary and Sean! They, along with friends and family, all came in from Washington DC for the big day at Green Pastures in South Austin. Mary and Sean’s breathtaking first look took place on the grand staircase…oh the drama of walking down those tall stairs!! Mary looked stunning – the little flowers in her hair were both stylish and romantic. Serenaded by peacocks and flowers in full bloom, we went outside to do Mary & Sean’s couples photos first. I’m so glad we did, because the rain held off until the very second that Mary walked down the aisle… Everyone scrambled for umbrellas (including the photographers!), while the couple went up into pavilion to escape the rain. But everyone had a good sense of humor and the show went on! Like Mary said later, it made for an awesome memory and everyone had a good laugh! The party then moved inside, where a yummy and healthy wedding dinner spread was unveiled. Friends and family told funny stories during toasts, and then everyone got on the dance floor for the perfect indoor dance party! This was followed by a delicious white cake with delicate green designs… note the cute custom cake forks from Etsy… adorable! Congratulations to Mary and Sean!
