Darcy & John :: Umlauf Sculpture Garden Wedding Austin TX

Darcy & John’s wedding was super special to me for a few reasons… One, I’ve known John for 13 years! We met while both working at a video store in Chapel Hill, NC when I was still in college. I subsequently visited John after he moved to Austin and fell head over heels in love with this town, and moved here a year later. And two, I believe with all my heart that John & Darcy are an absolutely PERFECT match, and it’s so incredible to watch two lovely people find their soul mates. I found myself crying more than once while editing these photos, especially when John tears up as Darcy and her dad walk down the aisle. This sweet moment was only one of many, though! A bassoon trio played the ceremony music, as Darcy is a professional bassoonist – she has even played in an orchestra! The flower “cloud” hanging over the ceremony area was one of the coolest flower inspirations I’ve seen a while – go Rosehip Flora! The creative and colorful flower arrangements were a table-top highlight for sure! Although you can’t beat a hand drawn illustration of two snakes by the bride at age 7, titled “Love At First Sight”. Darcy’s parents made the drawing into notecards and saved a few to frame for her wedding day. How cute!!! At the sign-in table, Darcy’s parents presented the couple with a brick for Umlauf with their names and wedding date inscribed into it – what a cool gift that lasts forever! A band John has played with in the past (yes, he’s a fabulous guitar and pedal steel player too!), Kevin Higgins and the Dust Devils played the reception and got the dance party started. After some short but sweet dancing, the couple ran to their limo getting high-fives along the way from their guests. And only one week after their wedding, Darcy and John moved to New York City! They will be sorely missed by all of us here, but I wish them the best on their new adventures together! Congratulations to Darcy and John!!!
