Austin Malverde Wedding | Colorful Downtown Intimate Wedding Venue

A colorful wedding for a fun couple

From start to finish, Allison & Cameron’s sunny winter wedding day was so full of joy! Malverde was the perfect choice of locations, with it’s pops of color and personality creating the perfect backdrop for the day’s festivities. Allison’s vibrant flower crown (as well as all the Malverde wedding florals!) were done by Cameron’s mom, and truly reflected their exuberance. With the expertise of Vintage & Lace wedding planners, the space was set up as a stylish intimate gathering with a family style meal served along a long table down the center of the space. The La Condesa kitchen catered the delicious feast, but the couple opted for and assortment of Voodoo Doughnut for the dessert, including a special giant heart doughnut especially for them (#notakebacks in icing)!

While guests arrived, I snuck back to hang out with Allison & get a few bridal portraits in the sunny rays of the back deck. Her whole look was to die for, from the vintage dress, to the flower crown, to the perfect tendrils framing her face. Allison danced down the aisle with her mother, and Cameron did his best to keep his tears under control. A friendly competition of who had written better vows ensued, with lots of laughs, hugs and tears. I was overjoyed to have the time to walk around the joining downtown Austin blocks for photos with the couple, and am smitten with so many that it was hard to choose favorites!!! The couple was announced back to the space to make their speech, but not before taking the first polaroid wedding selfie as a married couple for their guestbook. Cameron is a die hard film lover and even owned his own lomography camera store, so you can bet he has some special photos throughout the day too. I am thankful he decided not to shoot the wedding himself, though. :)

After heartfelt toasts from friends & family, the couple enjoyed an al fresco dance out on the open air Malverde patio. Everyone danced until it was time to grab their homemade salsa favors (did you know that Allison has won the Quesoff TWO times?!), before cheering the couple off on their pedicab! (Also, thank you to the slew of off-duty nurses with the abundance of first aid kits who made me stop shooting for a minute and to mend my bleeding finger! If there was a wedding to get injured at, this was the one, ha ha!)

  • coryryan - Awww, thanks so much April! You speech was just the sweetest – can’t wait to share the whole gallery with you guys soon! <3

  • April Henshaw - Speaking as MOH, Cory and her assistant were PERFECT. They were so kind and were always shooting. I’ve been to about 8 weddings this last two years and about half of the photographers only spend a few minutes shooting here and there. They were watching for unique moments and well, the photos speak for themselves. Bright, happy, no fuzzy filters, they are just as unique as Allison was hoping they’d be. They also worked well with the super sweet wedding coordinator Heather. Truly a match made in wedding heaven. Great job Cory!
