Rachel & Brandon :: Serengeti Resort Safari Wedding

Rachel & Bradon’s wedding had me in complete awe! Not only was their wedding located at Serengeti Resort, a safari themed locale in Bergheim, TX, but we were actually given a golf cart and ENCOURAGED to go out into the safari space and take pictures with the animals! We saw zebras wrestling, got chased by an emu (they aren’t very nice and poor Rachel had a bird-phobia!), and Karl the Camel even took a little love-nibble on Brandon’s suit collar. It was a pretty crazy experience and really kept us on our toes! Quick, here comes the giraffe, SMILE!!! Ha.

And first up on our formals list… uh, bridal party with taxidermy! I love a bride with a good sense of humor!

Rachel looked stunningly gorgeous in her cocktail length wedding dress and I think Brandon was equally as handsome on his tan suit (it was July, after all!). The wildflowers were out in bloom, which perfectly complemented the ladies’ bouquets in red, orange and yellow hues. Enjoy!

Amanda & Will :: A Mercury Hall Wedding, Texas-Style with Color!

Amanda & Will’s wedding was a wonderful affair at the charming Mercury Hall on July 4th weekend! Instead of fireworks, the brightly colored orange, turqoise and pink details exploded brightly into my lens and got everyone in the mood to party. Even Amanda’s suite at Hotel St. Cecilia had a rad turqoise tiled floor! The couple really took the time to personalize details - from the Black Lab Ale made my the groom himself (their dog was the ring bearer!) to the custom koozies, hip screenprinted programs, and an organic snow-cone station for dessert (it is summer after all – YUM!).

Will wowed me with his awesome dipping ability and we got lots of dramatic dip photos to show for it! A big shout out must go to my assistant Jonathan for his amazing slow-shutter flash-light-writing skills! The giant heart is my favorite! CONGRATULATIONS, guys!

Gen & CJ :: Unique Austin Engagement Photography

Gen & CJ are so cool! And just the way they would look at each other and laugh throughout the session would pretty much tug on any gal’s hearstrings. Gen & I met last winter at the Weddings Unveiled show and I was instantly impressed by her bubbly nature and outgoing attitude. Gen said she was into bright colors, and fun photos that popped, so that was the focus of our adventure! And of course, throw in a whole lot of love and 3 locations for the recipe of a super fun session! CJ is also the drummer of a very well-known 80′s band in town called The Spazmatics, so we couldn’t get too girly and romantic here – it had to have a little rock n’ roll edge as well. And of course, we got several shots of CJ’s infamous Spazmatics pose (think Superman without the cape here!)…

I can’t wait until your wedding, guys!!!

Karie & Marcus : Umlauf Sculpture Gardens Wedding for 3

Karie & Marcus’ wedding was easily one of the most intimate weddings I’ve ever had the honor to be a part of. With the officiant & photographers equalling the same amount of people as the bride, her son & the groom, I was looking forward to really being able to tell a close-knit photographic story. Preivously, I had the pleasure of shooting Karie & Marcus’ engagement photos, so they graciously welcomed us back as a part of their wedding family!

First and foremost, Karie’s style is TO DIE FOR. She looked absolutely stunning in her retro platinum curls, red lipstick, mini-veil & tea length dress. Marcus and her son wore matching summer khaki suits with yellow & purple striped ties. Her attention to details (purple feather pump clips) and crafty sensibility (customized retro fans, vintage button buttoineers & homemade purple glitter “ampersand”) really made the photos pop!

The ceremony took place at Umlauf Sculpture Gardens. It was both short and sweet, and high on emotion and intimacy. They exchanged their vows with eyes tearing up, and a sand ceremony to unite them all into a new family together. Karie had her son walk her down the aisle, and he even surprised us all with a chivalrous ring presentation (and equally hilarious “Burt Reynolds” pose there at the end as well)! Congratulations guys!!!

Katie & Ryan :: Hotel Saint Cecilia Wedding

Katie & Ryan had a long engagement, so I have been looking forward to this wedding for over a year now! Katie’s background is in graphic & interior design, so her skills lent the perfect touch to the custom program & escort cards, hand-sewn the decorative pillows & gorgeous moss-themed tablescapes. And Ryan pitched in by coming up with wine and food pairings for all 3 courses of their wedding meal, as his family owns and operates a winery. Their ceremony took place at the St. Edwards Chapel, where they met in college. Because they kept their invite list small, they were able to have their reception in the gorgeous courtyard of their St. Cecilia wedding suite! Talk about convenience! Their creative talents and emphasis on close friends and family made this wedding both charming and intimate.

Dani’s Bridals :: Mini-Golf + Bingo Bar Adventure Bridal Session!

For Dani’s bridals, we decided to go for fun, fun, fun! And is there anything more playful than mini-golf complete with giant concrete turtles and castles? After getting seriously dolled up with hair and make-up by Martha Lynn Barnes (I mean, WOW, she looks amazing!!!), Dani donned the cutest 50′s inspired pola dot & ruffled wedding dress from Unbridaled. If it came in other colors, I’d seriously have to buy it to wear out on the town!!!

After some mini-golf, we headed to a hot pink Bingo Hall (to match her shoes, of course!)where the owner greeted us with open arms. He even brought us out waters, as it was starting to become a pretty hot Austin afternoon. SO sweet!

I am totally in love with both of these gorgeous boquet creations by Melanie at Last Petal! I love it when floral designers go for out-of-the-box ideas like using succulents and winding long stems around the top of the bouqet. Seriously amazing! And she even tied in the hot pink to match Dani’s hot pink pumps.

Rae Ann & Sean :: Flirty, Romantic & Fun Engagement Portraits!

Rae Ann & Sean entered for our first meeting and I could immediately tell that I *WANTED TO SHOOT THEIR WEDDING*! In addition to so clearly adoring each other, their truly hilarious sense of humor only endeared them to me more. When they showed up for our session with light sabers, cowboy hats, handcuffs, white go-go boots, and a Star Trek shirt, I knew we were going to have a blast. I swear the 2 hour shoot went by in what seemed like 5 minutes! We started in the studio, then hopped down to Red River Street, and finally to the Long Center. And OH THE CRUSHING dissapointment! We wanted to shoot in the squirty fountains, but the water had been shut off. So brainstorming what other fountain options we had, we decided to hit a fountain in front of an office building downtown. We knew there was a possibility that we’d get kicked out, so they jumped in and we took photos at lightning speed. And right about the time we were taking the last shot, the sun set in-between two buildings in the background, and I fell in love with this shoot forever!

Caroline & Justin were such a dream to work with! Good luck seemed to be in store for us from the very start… upon arrival at St. Cecilia, they had upgraded the couple to a big beautiful suite! Turquoise vintage-inspired wallpaper, a something-blue TO DIE FOR, a sassy bride, boutineers of yummy herbs, and bright details really came together for a gorgeous wedding!

Karie & Marcus :: East Side Austin Engagement Photography

I knew this was going to be a fun session the minute I saw Karie’s TO DIE FOR flowered dress, awesome tattoos, and super cute vintage-inspired hair do! From previous emails, Karie & I also discovered that we had the exact same mural in mind- ”Till Death Do Us Part” – for one of their photo session locations… that’s always a good sign. For the other locations, we just wandered around the east side near my studio space and even came upon this cool broken down vintage car sitting in the driveway of a mechanic’s shop, which I ended up loving to pieces!

And because Karie’s son, Connor, will be the only one attending their Umlauf Sculpture Gardens wedding in June, they had me whip up a super cute wedding announcement to mail out to their friends and family upon tying the knot!

Melyn & Aaron’s Wedding Photo Booth :: Kerville, TX

Saturday night at The Twin Boar Ranch in Kerville, TX was a total blast! Melyn, the bride, organized one of the most gorgeous and breathtaking Texas ranch themed weddings that I’ve seen in a long time! And what big party isn’t complete without your Texas themed photo booth, right?!?! Armed with 2 Texas flags, some hay bails, cowboy hats, sheriff’s badges, toy guns, mustaches, and even a PARTY GOAT named “Taxi”, the guests let loose in for me!
